Superintendents Practice Group 10 months, 3 weeks ago There were many things to process following the two-day Commissioner’s Conference. Great sessions re MLTI and online learning, the work of Stonington-Deer Isle High School, the CTE math connections, and the Data Warehouse possibilities – these were some of the sessions I attended. I am curious how we can better structure our own professional development to model and practice the learning experiences we want to promote for our students and faculty. Linda Laughlin on day one shared a slide that had at the bottom our need to look at structure and delivery of instruction. How can we do this for and with adults as well to accelerate our own learning and experiences?
This would be a good piece to think about with the professional development committee from MSSA itself Steve. I know Rick Lyons is working with the PD committee to try to find funding to maybe a do a better job at building a more comprehensive PD program for Superintendents. In the meantime, however. .. if anyone gets a chance to become more involved in the work of MCCL and even as superintendents (and probably more importantly as superintendents) attend some of their trainings about proficiency based education and how the very structures of traditional education are what is ”blocking us” from moving forward. .. well – I’d suggest that’s a great place to start! If anyone is more interested in that – I’d contact Linda Laughlin or check out the MCCL website at: http://mainecustomizedlearning.com/ Good luck!
