Superintendents Practice Group 8 months agoCan someone help remind me who are the 6 districts that received federal funding to work on new teacher evaluation systems? I know of RSU 12, Lewiston, RSU 74, but can’t remember the rest? I’m going to be getting a small committee together to try to visit some of these sites to learn more about these systems in prep for LD 1858 work. TAKING…[Read more]

Superintendents Practice Group 10 months, 2 weeks agoHi Heather,
First the teacher evaluation process, our teachers’ union agreed to a one year contract for the upcoming year, so we could take the year to meet twice a month to create a teachers’ contract that is more in line with the Mass Customized Learning, if we are changing the model of education from an Industrial model then we must also look…[Read more]-
Thanks Katy! I would be very curious to see what your thoughts are regarding necessary changes to teacher contracts to appropriately model the Mass Customized Learning approach – that too is something RSU 3 needs to tackle! Sounds like a great “forum” for discussion at a coming MCCL meeting – maybe we can get others to share their work too so…[Read more]

Superintendents Practice Group 10 months, 3 weeks agoI’d be curious to know from other Superintendents – what are your plans regarding next year and the work towards creating a new evaluation system. Hi Heather. Your plan sounds like the right way to go. It’s hard to generate a sense of urgency, given the timeline and the uncertainty regarding details. On the other hand, if one simply waits for another year to pass, there may not be enough time to make changes and get support of the new system.

Hello Heather,
I plan to use a similar strategy and get folks together to discuss ideas that will likely impact our evaluation system. I do think working with folks will be best but I know there is a group working on this topic and they have to at least identify some component examples prior to September. This should help all of us with some…[Read more]

What about any of the TIF schools already working on this? I’ve heard presentations from RSU 12, and from MSAD 74. . . but these were to larger groups. .. I wonder if Superintendents of these school systems would be open to having a small group come up and meet with your working groups to discuss not only the product (or where it is right now)…[Read more]
