I should add that I believe that clear, transparent curriculum as defined by common core, Next Gen Science standards, etc and the implications of a standards-based transcript cause additional anxiety as perhaps we can’t teach favorite topics and ignore others and average deficiencies at a course level any longer. We are shining the flashlight into…[Read more]

Thanks for your feedback Christine. I understand your frustration, and perhaps there is no “correct answer”, yet the alternatives are difficult to accept. To lower or remove the requirement bar for individual students without an identified disability seems like giving up on them, and might set a precedent that becomes more about the adults…[Read more]

The question was “Do you really believe that all students can learn to proficiency through what you’ve identified as the learning targets required for graduation?” (Just in case you are wondering we all agreed identified students had…[Read more]

I wanted to throw something out here for discussion that I heard at the meeting and see what you all think.

As part of a discussion about Educate software and learner-centered education…[Read more]

  • Just a note to let folks know that we have a preliminary web site available for the Maine Cohort for Customized Learning (MCCL) online as of this morning! http://mainecustomizedlearning.org
As with nearly any web site, it’s a work in progress with content being added regularly.

  • Yes, I guess an explanation is in order: MSAD16 (Hall-Dale, pre-consolidation) initiated a standards-based/referenced environment a few years ago, but this is the first year that our whole RSU (all ten schools) […]

  • Thanks for inviting me to participate Don. This will be an exciting and welcome addition to the LCE landscape in Maine and will help keep us all collaborating. This first year has been tough on many levels, but […]
