Digital portfolios have been a lot fun and a great resource for student and teacher. Remember those Sony Mavica cameras?.....what were they....one megapixel? hah! With modern laptops, notebooks, photocopiers that scan and personal phones.......students are capturing images of their work daily.

More capturing equals more sharing. Students are sharing their progress and creations. Memory is cheap and available. Students use digital images, audio recording and video in multiple ways and share links to external portfolios to colleges, potential work opportunities and friends.

Templates are nice to start with......but a personal touch and ingenuity are encouraged.

MLTI at the middle levels has really helped our students with basic technology skills......I remember that first
year I did not have to teach students how to turn on a computer.....and we could move on to richer, deeper, learning experiences.

Digital portfolios will require professional development, support, guidance and patience from all.........and it will be worth it.
